Last weekendwas the seventh round of the 2013 CMRC Motocross Nationals in Deschambault. Let me start by saying I thought the track was really run, but at the same time it was probably the most one lined track we have raced all year. Timed qualifying went great, I put down the fastest lap giving myself first gate pick going into moto one. In the first moto I was t-boned in the first turn forcing me to swerve off the track. I reentered in almost dead last and went to work moving forward, but with the track being so one lined passing was extremely difficult. On the last lap I found myself in 5th with Savage right in front of me, I made the pass for 4th but in the fallowing turn he came into me and I went down. I ended up being clipped twice while trying to remount the motorcycle and was forced to kick start it not once but twice, I finished a disappointing 14th.
I rebounded nicely in the second moto scoring a top-5 start and passing into 1st early, I lead the rest of the moto and scored the win. The 14-1 moto scores earned me 5th overall. The good news on the weekend is that Politelli finished behind me both motos and I cut his points lead in half with four motos remaining. I now have two more rounds, four motos to make up 15-points. I feel like I am riding better now than any other time in my career and I can’t wait to go racing this weekend.

Sand Del Lee has always been a track that I have struggled with, granted in the previous years I have been riding a inferior bike. This year my RTR Performance/C4MX Honda is amazing so I knew going in that it would be better than years past. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the same good starts that I got in Gopher Dunes. In the first moto I started around 7th and did my best to move forward. I charged all moto but never really felt like I found my grove, I worked my way up to 3rd by the end of the race.
In the second moto I had an even worse start, I came around the first lap outside the top 10 and had the work cut out for myself. I again put my head down and passed into 3rd with three laps remaining. I was catching Maffendeier on his 55hp 250 2-stroke (which shouldn’t be legal) in the closing laps but ran out of time and had to settle for 3rd. There was a 3-way tie for the overall victory between Politelli, Clark, and myself; my 3-3 moto scores earned me 2nd overall. I am very happy with the weekend, I didn’t loose any points on a track that I don’t really enjoy. I am really looking forward to next weekends race.

The fifth round of the CMRC Nationals at Gopher Dunes proved to be my best result of my Canadian career, after a disastrous forth round I rebounded scoring my first overall victory this weekend. I pulled the holeshot in both motos putting myself in a great position, in the first moto I lead start to finish which was an amazing feeling and stretched out a nice 16-second lead by the time the checkers came out.
The second moto was a little tougher, looking back I don’t think I let me body fully cool down between motos and I don’t think I stayed adequately hydrated throughout the day. In the second moto, I scored another holeshot and lead for the first half of the moto. Around the half way point I started suffering from mild heat stroke and was forced to back it down, to prevent the symptoms from getting worse. I held on for 2nd in the moto which gave me 1-2 moto scores and 1st overall. I am extremely excited about scoring my first overall victory, and feel confident going into the rest of the series that I have the speed and fitness to contend for race wins every weekend.
